Pat Kurs

Pat's career started in adolescence at the Joffrey School of Ballet where she studied the discipline and grace of becoming a ballerina. Pat always had a unique and original personal style and a passion for beauty of every type - flowers, art, clothes, dance. Her varied  interests twirled her into the fertile world of fashion in the 70`s.
She became a prominent figure on the New York fashion scene. Her uninhibited flair and style was often documented by Bill Cunningham for the N.Y. Times. Professionally, Pat developed a knack for bringing fashion shoots to life with her enthusiasm and talent. She became sought after to contribute to advertising campaigns and editorial shoots with photographers Richard Avedon, Helmut Newton, Patrick Demarchelier , Bill King, and Bert Stern.

Throughout this period Pat was also known for her meticulously crafted sequin geometric constructions used by Gene Moore for Tiffany`s window displays. She also pioneered work with the SX-70 Polaroid camera. Using the now defunct technology as a finished piece of art rather than a tool. Her extraordinary, sexually charged vignettes combining antique dolls, jewelry and the bodies of her circle of friends appeared in the SX-70 Art Book published by Lustrum in 1978.

Recently, Pat has contributed her unique vision and taste to Brazilian Vogue, collaborating with editor Danniel Rangel. Her work has also recently been featured in Very magazine, Blend, L`Officiel, and Issue One from London. Her work was presented in 2005 at the Joyce Gallery in the Palais Royal in Paris and in 2006 at the Gallerio Tempo in Rio de Janeiro. Pat is looking forward to her one woman show in New York at the Sous Les Etoiles Gallery in October 2007.
