Body And Soul
Sous Les Etoiles Gallery is pleased to present “Body & Soul” exhibition, featuring the work of Ananta Dasa, Sari Goodfriend, Carolanne Leslie, and Stephanie Pommez.
This multi-artist exhibition presents work that examines human physicality, our bodies in relation to a larger context, the soul. Challenging our notions of human condition to sustain life and survive.
Ananta Dasa who recently exhibited at Adam Gendell Gallery, in San Francisco, explores the people and places that formulate our personal and cultural identities in his extraordinary visual diary, “My World.” Every photo of mine is objects and people from my world, and I love and remember them all. “
Sari Goodfriend’s series “Familiar Terrain” presents the viewer with imagery of trees that through composition and lighting reveal violent but sensual ties between man and nature on both a physical and psychological level.
New York artist Carolanne Leslie displays the body as the resilient and abraded canvas upon which our hopes, wounds, struggles, and transformations are painted in her series “Patina: Corruption of Flesh”.
Stephanie Pommez creates a visual narrative with her series “Midwives of the Amazon.” Capturing the beauty, majesty, and tradition invisible to the outside world along the miles of Amazon river. These photographs are a tribute to the midwives, their triumph, their sorrow and their humility.
