An avid doll collector,Pat Kurs began shooting her large collection : still life of dolls with a life of their own. Back at the house,  secret curtain opened,the doll house became a burlesque theatre. Originally bordello dolls,small exotic women with large languid eyes took center stage.

Ornate French and Italian fabrics adorned with sequins dressed the porcelain courtesans,ready to seduce flesh,or stone.They posed with unique props such as art deco scissors,mask and finally real people mixing with dolls. Pat Kurs created an aura in each picture that surpassed that of mere mortals. Alive came once again,the time of DuBarry or Madame de Stael or Cleopatra.

And consciously or not, Pat Kurs became one with her creation,turned into one of her dolls come to life.
